Tempo Extractor
by Nathan Becker
Version 1.0
January 21, 1995
This is a quick little program that I cooked up this morning because
I don't have a Dr. Beat or other metronome to measure tempo. What this program
does is figure out the tempo (beat per minute) that is being clicked on the
keyboard.
To use this program, just type tempo at the DOS prompt. It will display
a short welcome message and then give some instructions so you may begin. To
begin, just start clicking a tempo on any key (the spacebar is probably most
convenient). The computer will display two values. One is Current Tempo.
This is the tempo created with only the click you just made. If you can't
keep absolutely perfect time, this number will vary slightly for each click.
The Average Tempo is an average of all of the Current Tempos. After clicking
for several seconds, the Average Tempo will stabilize. This is the tempo
value that you are clicking. To exit the program press the ESCAPE key.
This program is free. I am just passing it along hoping that it may
be useful to someone besides me. When you give it to a friend please make
sure that you include all of the files listed below:

If you have any questions for me I can be reached on Compuserve at
71670,266. I have tested this program and know of no major bugs. However,
I cannot be liable for any damage that this program may cause. You use this
at your own risk. What I can promise is that it is extremely unlikely that
a program this simple could cause any damage; I just have to include that
disclaimer to protect myself.
